24 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “If anyone is willing to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life, will lose it. But whoever will have lost his life for my sake, shall find it. 26 For how does it benefit a man, if he gains the whole world, yet truly suffers damage to his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of man will arrive in the glory of his Father, with his Angels. And then he will repay each one according to his works. 28 Amen I say to you, there are some among those standing here, who shall not taste death, until they see the Son of man arriving in his reign.”

34 And calling together the crowd with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone chooses to follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 35 For whoever will have chosen to save his life, will lose it. But whoever will have lost his 588 life, for my sake and for the Gospel, shall save it. 36 For how does it benefit a man, if he gains the whole world, and yet causes harm to his soul? 37 Or, what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 For whoever has been ashamed of me and of my words, among this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of man also will be ashamed of him, when he will arrive in the glory of his Father, with the holy Angels.” 39 And he said to them, “Amen I say to you, that there are some among those standing here who shall not taste death until they see the kingdom of God arriving in power.”

1 And after six days, Jesus took with him Peter, and James, and John; and he led them separately to a lofty mountain alone; and he was transfigured before them.

23 Then he said to everyone: “If anyone is willing to come after me: let him deny himself, and take up his cross every day, and follow me. 24 For whoever will have saved his life, will lose it. Yet whoever will have lost his life for my sake, will save it. 25 For how does it benefit a man, if he were to gain the whole world, yet lose himself, or cause himself harm? 26 For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words: of him the Son of man will be ashamed, when he will have arrived in his majesty and that of his Father and of the holy Angels. 27 And yet, I tell you a truth: There are some standing here who shall not taste death, until they see the kingdom of God.”

25 it remains alone. But if it dies, it yields much fruit. Whoever loves his life, will lose it. And whoever hates his life in this world, preserves it unto eternal life.
